Runners of the Month - September 2010

Nora Bikos

Jim Jones

Nora began running with us over the past winter and ran her first marathon at the Flying Pig, and has become such a fast runner that she is in a bid to potentially qualify for Boston at Chicago.  She runs with us when she can, but her young son keeps her busy.  She is always smiling and is friendly to everyone.
Originally she used to run for leisure during the weekends.  In Spring 2009, she decided to spend more time training for a specific goal or race, and since then has completed a variety of distance races including her first half marathon in October 2009 and her first full this past spring as mentioned above.
Nora is a perfect fit for YPOM. She is caring and compassionate as a running partner while drinking and parting all night (as proven during Lisa's all night birthday party in Downtown) with her YPOM buddies. Nora wears leopard print well, since she became a Cougar this year (see Muddy Buddy pictures for proof).  We are fortunate to have Nora with us before she could get recruited by the Hanson's team.

Jim began running in early 2008 through some inspiration from some of his friends.  The running helped him turn to a healthier lifestyle and he was able to quit smoking.

He trained and ran his first marathon in Detroit just 9 months after starting running.  Since then he has completed 2 full marathons and many other race distances.

He is also a very talented guitar player, playing both electric and acoustic with flare.  No Muddy Buddy is complete without Jim and his brat burgers.

Jim is temporarily working out of state in Arkansas and thus does not get to run with us often, but eventually plans to return and rejoin the group full time.  He just was back in town to join us for the Crim, and is planning on running the Brooksie Way next month.  He also is already planning on running a full marathon in Arkansas next spring, he just has to get used to the hills and humidity!
