Medals4Mettle Training Run

September 7, 2014 at Paint Creek Trail in Rochester - 7am

Medals4Mettle (http://www.medals4mettle.org/) is a non-profit organization that facilitates the gifting of marathon, half marathon, and triathlon finishers’ medals. Runners from around the world give their hard earned medals to Medals4Mettle. Their worldwide network of physicians and volunteers then awards these medals attached to a Medals4Mettle ribbon to children and adults fighting debilitating illnesses who might not be able to run a race, but are in a race of their own just to continue to live their life. It is in honor of this mettle and courage in bravely facing these challenges that they are awarded a medal.

Often races have left over medals that were never awarded at the end of events. Race directors have kindly donated these medals to Medals4Mettle; however since they were not earned medals they cannot be gifted.

Here is where you can help. Come out and do your 13.1-mile training run with us. We will have water and Gatorade available to you on the out and back course (5 water stops). Upon your return you will be awarded a medal. Water, Gatorade, bagels, cookies will also be your reward. This medal is yours for as long as you stay with us at the finish area. When you're ready to head home, simply donate your newly earned medal at the gifting table. That medal will be restrung with a beautiful new Medals4Mettle ribbon and gifted to some deserving folks.

We also will be raising money for JDRF. As thanks for organizing this please consider donating to this charity by cash or check.

Please join us! To help with supplies planning please RSVP here on our web site forum (look under Races and Events -> September) or on our Facebook event page (https://www.facebook.com/events/1430962703845193/) or by email to Sue Siragusa at medalsformettletrainingrun
@gmail.com.

Where: Start and finish at Rochester Public Library, 500 Olde Town Road, Rochester, MI

If you wish, you also may donate to Medals4Mettle your own hard-earned medals from your personal collection at this event. The only requirement is that the medal was earned and it was from a race of half marathon distance or longer. (Half Marathon, Marathon, Ultra, Biathlon, Triathlon all accepted.)
